The Compost Mountain Boys have been together since 1992, playing a variety of vocal and instrumental songs in the old-time bluegrass style.
From their home in Northern California, they have entertained audiences at festivals and concerts, as well as parties, dances and other festive occasions.
Meet the current band members,
TIM WILSON is the banjo player. He keeps the driving sound alive and brings that tasteful, dynamic style from the guitar to the banjo. He sings a few songs, and writes some of the band's original material.
BRUCE JOHNSON plays the stand-up bass and sings smooth lead and harmony vocals.
MIKE (Spumoni) MANETAS is a fine bluegrass singer, and plays mandolin. He brings many, many songs to the group and writes some of the bands original music.
MICHAEL WALKER comes to the group with great vocals and a dynamic guitar style. He's been playing around the area for a while, originally from Georgia, he's made his home here in Humboldt.
JIM HATCHIMONJI is the fiddler, he gives our songs a lot of that traditional, old-time sound and adds a few vocals.
